Kansai Yamamoto Early 1980s “Super Lady” Intarsia Knit Sweater.
Kansai Yamamoto was the designer of the era for David Bowie throughout the late 60s and early 70s, designing such iconic looks as the Ziggy Stardust tour outfits and the asymmetric striped body suit which appeared on the "Station to Station” LP. Yamamoto contrasted sharply with his anti-fashion peers, often using loud colours and vibrant patterns, as well as innovative cuts and construction.
This particular knit features, Kansai’s signature “Super Lady” face weaved into the sweater, a vibrant spectrum of colours separated by gold articulated piping and a large “Kansai Yamamoto” spellout situated below. Made of a heavyweight wool blend with ribbed neck, cuffs and hem, finished with a boxy fit.
