(L-XL) Vivienne Westwood Vivienne Westwood Asymmetric Distressed Patchwork Knit Sweater
Vivienne Westwood Asymmetric Distressed Patchwork Knit Sweater
Vivienne Westwood stands alone in the void between pop culture and fashion, her best works showcased on the legendary punks which carried them. Initially drawn to the movement by its punch and controversy. Though as Westwood’s career has progressed, she has found herself more firmly entrenched in the mainstream (receiving British Fashion Designer of the Year three times). She’s remained a designer for whom the political and social message behind her clothing is often as important as the garments themselves, and has released capsule collections aimed at calling attention to nuclear weapons, climate change, and plenty of other social causes. Vivienne is largely responsible for bringing modern punk and new wave fashions into the mainstream.
This sweater, showcases various levels of patch working: marl patches, classic weave and various other techniques. There’s some distressing, and two large holes on either side, there’s fabric placed under each armpit one of which exhibits two of the classic orb logos, creating a minor batwing shape. The jumper takes reference from late sweaters from the punk movement but also a more modern look with various materials used. It’s a fairly boxy fit, constructed from a heavyweight wool blend.
